Thanks for your prayers for my time with the Campus Crusade students - it was encouraging to see the students from various universities in Germany so eager to hear from the Scripture! I spoke on “Friendship with God” on the basis of the life of Abraham.

An important decision: Our lawyer-neighbor decided not to give us permission to raise the end of the roof 65cm (25.5 inches) for the staff apartment that the Ploners will be occupying. (It would have put the height of that end of the building outside the proportions allowed in the building code in relation to his property line.) The decision was not terribly surprising, but nevertheless disappointing from a “neighborly” point of view. (Others have reported to us that he is a very difficult person in general to work with.) On the other hand, we are not truly sad, because the architect we are working with had already given a lot of thought to alternatives and there seems to be a couple of possible ways we could achieve almost the same remodeling goals without needing his signature. (The alternative also may save us some money!)
